Discussion: New walls and class divisions
How do you move forward when the world feels too heavy to carry alone?
We will stop at Kallio Church to discuss this important question before the sold-out screening of the closing film of the Karhupuisto Film Festival, Dreams. You can also follow the discussion via live stream on our Facebook and Instagram accounts.
The panel discussion will bring together four influencers from different walks of life:
- MEP Li Andersson
- Kallio vicar Riikka Reina
- Documentary film director Susanna Helke
- Film director and screenwriter Carlos Marroquin

The discussion was moderated by journalist Kaisa Viitanen.
Lately, the news has seemed hopeless: immigration policy is tightening, walls are rising between us, and inequality is increasing. The discussion tackles the feeling of inadequacy – the familiar idea that you are not doing enough. How do you manage to influence shortcomings when you are tired, sad, or feel like you don't know enough? How do you awaken hope and agency in those who feel powerless? And what concrete actions can you take – in your own life, in your community, or through art?
The discussion will be based on personal experiences and paths to influence: from social decision-making, church work, activism, and filmmaking. The panel offers an opportunity to stop, share, listen, and perhaps realize that you are not alone.
Note: The panel discussion is only for those who have purchased a Dreams film ticket ( the screening is sold out ). The discussion will be live-streamed via the festival's Facebook and Instagram accounts.
