Matthew, a twenty-something clothing store clerk from Los Angeles, is working when his idol, artist Oliver, unexpectedly walks in. Matthew captures Oliver's attention by playing a rare song through the store's speakers. The door to success and fame opens.
Staying in the inner circle and basking in the stardust becomes like a drug for Matthew, as Oliver's entire team competes for the star's attention. Lurker turns into a psychological thriller and a tormenting cat-and-mouse game as the line between friendship and fandom blurs.
Alex Russell's (Beef, The Bear) acclaimed and award-winning directorial debut, which premiered at Sundance, brings the timeless rags-to-riches theme into today's reality of social media, personal branding, and popular culture. Matthew is brilliantly portrayed by Thoédore Pellegrin, who charmed the Karhupuisto audience last year in Nino. Oliver is played by the equally impressive Archie Madekwe, known from Saltburn and Midsommar.
Kenny Beats' superb music accompanies the euphoric and nightmarish moments of this story set in the city of dreams.
