Karhupuisto Film Festival has the honor of hosting the Nordic premiere of this year's Cannes Short Film Palme d'Or winner, Paras Los Contrincantes. Directed by Federico Luis, this film blends documentary and fiction as it follows a young boy striving to become a boxing champion in Mexico City's Tepito. In Cannes, the jury, led by Spanish director Carla Simón, praised the film for the way it "captures the soul of a child as they encounter their first life lesson."
