Masterclass: Alex Russell – From Lurker to The Bear

Californian Alex Russell is a writer, director, and producer whose award-winning debut film Lurker premiered at Sundance. Russell is also known as a co-executive producer of the award-winning series Beef (Netflix/A24) and a writer and producer for the Golden Globe and Emmy-winning series The Bear (Disney+).
In his masterclass, Russell will open up his creative process through examples, explaining how ideas evolve from script to screen and television, how to build compelling characters, and what it takes to realize ambitious stories.

The Masterclass is organized in collaboration with the Digital Creative Industries and Beyond project. The project provides a platform for strengthening collaboration and co-creation between the digital and creative sectors. It offers practical support measures and guidance to help both early-stage companies and internationally growth-oriented businesses in the digital creative industries enhance their operations and scale their production.
The project is implemented by the City of Helsinki in cooperation with Metropolia University of Applied Sciences and Aalto University. The project is co-funded by the European Union.
