The closing film of the Karhupuisto Film Festival takes a moment to reflect on life's big questions. Why do some live long, while others depart early? What is the secret to a long life, or is there one?

The documentary The Oldest Person in the World is based on curiosity about the world's oldest people. Whenever the world's oldest person dies, the media prominently reports it.

Filmed over ten years, the film introduces no fewer than six of the world's oldest people, as the title holder understandably changes quite frequently, for example, from one 110-year-old to another.

As the award-winning director Sam Green meets the world's oldest people in Japan, Italy, Spain, and France, he also examines life and its finitude through his own lifespan. The Oldest Person in the World, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, thus becomes a universal depiction of the finitude of life and the great gift of life.
